How to take care of your jewellery?

• Store your precious piece in a jewellery velvet pouch/dust bag.
• Specially designed jewellery boxes are always the best, with soft lining and individual compartmentst.
• We strongly advise avoiding direct contact while applying perfumes, soaps, and other fragrance products.
• To protect its original colour, carefully rinse the jewellery with warm water and gently wipe it with a cloth. Avoid using harsh chemicals and cleaners.
• It should be stored away from direct sunlight, dampness, and extremes, either heat or cold.
• Never force or pull chains. When in storage, arrange chains in loop shapes to avoid damage. Refrain from mixing silver and gold jewellery.
• After each use, gently wipe every piece with a soft cloth to remove any makeup residue or oils from your skin. Go easy – excessive polishing might rub off the plating.
• We do not recommend swimming, showering, and exercising with our pieces on a regular basis. This can result in loss of colour and shine, and naturally occuring from certain skin PH levels. 
• Excessive light, heat or moisture may compromise the quality of the gemstones, pearls and the plating. The colour of some gemstones, pearls may fade with prolonged exposure to the sun. Avoid the risk of summertime sadness by saving your jewellery for evenings or the shade.
• Pearls may loose their lustre when exposed to products like soaps and perfumes. Pearls and most gemstones are delicate and special care should be taken when cleaning with chemicals and ultrasonic cleaners.
• Silver may oxidize and darken from contact with the natural salts and minerals on your skin. Special jewellery shops sell silver polish dips that can bring back the shine to your jewellery.

Water and Chemical Interactions:

• Water and chemicals may damage the surface. Always take jewellery off before washing your hands, bathing, showering or doing household work.
• Add your jewellery as the last step of your beauty routine. Hairspray, perfume, soap, makeup, oils and lotions may all dull the surface.

How to maintain your jewllery?

• Just like any other wardrobe item, jewellery needs maintenance to keep in mint condition. Check locks and clasps regularly.
• It is natural for the layers of gold plating to gradually wear off, but by following our care tips you can slow down the process. You might at some point want to get a new layer of gold plating.

What kind of micron plating do we have?

We are using 2 microns on all our earrings, bracelets and necklaces:

• With regular and considerate wear it will last you approximately 2-3 years for earrings and 1-3 years for necklaces.

What do we consider regular and considerate wear?

• Regular wear means jewellery you wear a few times a week - not every day, but not only for special occasions.

Considerate wear means taking off your jewellery when showering, swimming, doing sports or other tasks such as gardening, sleeping, etc. Also removing rings and bracelets when washing your hands. And remember to always put on plated jewellery after moisturizers, deodorants, perfumes, or other skincare products.

Plated jewellery that has lost its colour?

• Jewellery with a plating should be treated carefully as the plating wears down over time. Therefore, it is important to avoid contact with water, chemicals (hand sanitizer, perfume, skin lotion, hair spray) which can discolour the jewellery and cause the plating to wear more.
• A piece of jewellery that has lost its plating may be due to how the jewellery has been cared for and how the jewellery has been used in everyday life, this is considered personal wear and tear.
• For example, a ring worn every day is exposed to different things and it is entirely natural to have a certain amount of wear (especially at the bottom when you quickly hit the underside). Feel free to take the ring off during everyday tasks such as cooking, washing dishes, and carrying heavy loads.
• During a day, the jewellery is exposed to various substances that can cause the jewellery to lose its lustre due to dirt, exhaust gases, grease, beauty products or liquid.
• Jewellery that has a plating should be treated carefully, the plating can wear down over time.
• If the plating is worn away, it can be restored by any smith who re-plates the piece.

Why has my gold-plated jewellery become discoloured?

A piece of jewellery with gold plating means that the piece has a coating of gold and that the core is made of different metals such as silver or brass. Jewellery with a plating should be treated carefully as the plating wears down over time. 

• Gold plating can wear off over time, depending on how much the jewellery has been used, the person's skin type, environmental emissions and how the jewellery was stored when not used.
• The jewellery should be used carefully and avoid contact with water and chemicals (e.g. perfume, chlorine, lotion, hand sanitiser, hair spray, etc.) as this can damage the jewelery surface and also discolour the jewellery.
• Gold-plated jewellery can react to other metals, so do not store it together with other jewellery made of other materials or on top of each other.

How do I clean my gold-plated jewellery?

• You can clean your gold-plated jewellery gently with a dry and soft polishing cloth to remove dirt and any discolouration.

Why has my rhodium-plated jewellery become discoloured?

A piece of jewellery with rhodium plating means that the piece has a coating of rhodium and that the core is made of different metals such as silver or brass. Jewellery with a plating should be treated carefully as the plating wears down over time. 

• A rhodium plating can disappear over time, depending on how much the jewellery has been used, the person's skin type, the exhaust gases of the environment and how the jewellery was stored when not in use.
• The jewellery should be used carefully and avoid contact with water and chemicals (e.g. perfume, chlorine, lotion, hand sanitizer, hairspray, etc.) as this can damage the surface layer of the jewelery and also discolour the jewellery.
• Rhodium-plated jewellery can react to other metals, so do not store together with other jewelry made of other materials or on top of each other.

How do I clean jewellery with pearls?

• All pearl jewellery should be taken care of carefully.
• You can clean the pearls with a soft polishing cloth to remove dirt that has settled on the pearl.

How do I clean jewellery with stones?

• Over time, the gemstone can become a little "dirty" and may eventually need to be cleaned and polished.
• Take a toothbrush and wet it with warm water. Then brush gently on the stone and then dry with a soft dry cloth.
• Since all our gemstones are natural and genuine, the stone can "die" if you hit it hard.
